Hockey Champions!

Inchmarlo have created their own little piece of hockey history by winning the Northern Ireland Hockey Championships for the third year in a row.

It’s the first time this has been achieved by any school since 1994. In a tournament which has grown considerably since then, we came out on top against 154 participating primary schools. Quite an achievement when you consider the size of the school.

On the day, the boys played nine matches, scoring twenty one goals and conceding only three. In typical Inchmarlo fashion, they built momentum as the tournament progressed, conserving energy along the way and producing their best hockey in the semi final and final.

Captain Matthew McAreavey, who together with Vice Captain, Harry Luke, led by example

throughout the day, was the proud recipient of the Pearson Cup...remarkably his third winners

medal! The squad made up of boys from P7, P6 and P5 made sure the journey home was loud, if not tuneful, as they belted out Country Roads and Wonderwall! They had thoroughly earned the right to celebrate!
